Cookie Policy

Last updated

Cookies are small text records a website stores in your browser; local storage, session storage and IndexedDB are similar mechanisms with more room. PulsarKit uses very few of them, and only two categories: strictly necessary items that make the site work the way you asked, and analytics items, which where the law requires consent are set only after you agree in the banner. There are no advertising cookies at present.

This page lists each item. The privacy policy explains what happens to the data more broadly.

Strictly necessary

These items are needed for the site to remember your own choices or to do the work you started. They are not used to identify you, and consent is not required for them.

  • fk_consent (cookie, 180 days): your answer in the cookie banner, so that it is not shown again on every page.
  • fk_geo (cookie, 24 hours): a short mark, "ask" or "free", of whether the consent banner is required where you are, worked out from the country of the request; the country itself is not stored in it.
  • pk_internal (cookie, set by our server, only for our own team): marks the team's own visits so that they are left out of the statistics. It is set after signing in to the site's admin panel (one year) or by opening a special link with ?internal=1 (30 days), and contains no identifier.
  • Theme and interface preferences (local storage): light or dark mode and similar settings.
  • Form drafts (local storage, up to 30 days): the invoice, resume, business card, NDA, privacy policy and Markdown editor keep your draft so that a reload does not lose it. Recipient names in the certificate tool are never saved.
  • Tool chains and file hand-off (IndexedDB and session storage): saved chains of tools and the result handed from one tool to the next.
  • Savings counter and small game features (local storage): local counters that the site shows back to you; nothing is sent anywhere.
  • Engine and model caches (Cache API and IndexedDB): downloaded WebAssembly engines and OCR language data, kept so that the next run is faster.
  • Service worker cache: the application shell, so that pages open faster and the tools that do not need the network keep working offline.

Analytics, by consent or by default

In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland these items are created only if you choose "Accept" in the banner, and "Necessary only" keeps all of them off. Elsewhere they are set by default until you choose "Necessary only" in "Cookie settings" in the footer, which removes them. Without them our own statistics is an anonymous count that sets no cookie and stores nothing in your browser (privacy policy, section 2). The site works exactly the same either way.

  • pk:tab and pk:seq (session storage, only with full statistics, live while the tab is open): a random identifier of the tab and the number of the last event sent from it, so that the events of one visit can be put in order. Refusing deletes them.
  • _aid (cookie, 400 days, set by our server, only with full statistics): a random device identifier so that our own analytics can count visits and returning visits. It contains no personal information.
  • _clck and _clsk (cookies, Microsoft Clarity): persist the Clarity user and session identifiers.
  • CLID, ANONCHK, MR, MUID, SM (cookies, Microsoft): used by Clarity to identify the browser and to synchronise with Microsoft services. Their lifetimes range from the session to about a year and are set by Microsoft.

Advertising

No advertising cookies are set at present. When an advertising provider is added, this page will list the cookies involved. Where consent is required by law nothing will be set before you accept in the banner; elsewhere advertising cookies will be set by default and "Cookie settings" in the footer will remove them.

Changing your choice

"Cookie settings" in the footer reopens the banner on any page. Withdrawing analytics consent takes effect immediately: Clarity stops, the cookies it set are deleted, and the _aid identifier and the tab identifiers are removed; our own statistics switches to the anonymous count. You can also delete everything through your browser's site data settings, or block cookies for this site in your browser; the tools keep working without them.

The embeddable widget

The widget version of our tools, which other websites can embed, never loads analytics scripts, sends no usage events and sets no analytics cookies, whatever your choice on this site.
