How to Merge PDF

  1. 1

    Add your PDF files

Drop up to fifty PDFs into the box at once, or add them a few at a time. Each file appears as a card with its page count.

  2. 2

Drag the cards to set the order

Pages are joined top to bottom, in the order the cards sit in. Drag a card to move a whole file; remove one with the cross.

  3. 3

    Click Merge and download

The merged file is built on your device and saved as merged.pdf.

Pages are copied, not re-rendered

Merging here is a structural operation: every page object is copied into the new document as it was, keeping its size, rotation, embedded fonts, vector art and image data untouched. Nothing is rasterised, so a crisp contract stays crisp and a scanned invoice does not pick up a second round of JPEG artefacts. That is also why the merged file is close to the sum of the originals: combining is not a compression step. If the result needs to fit an email limit, run it through Compress PDF afterwards.

Bookmarks, forms and metadata

By default each source file becomes a top-level bookmark named after the file, so a fifty-page bundle still has a table of contents. Interactive form fields are flattened before copying, because two copies of the same form would otherwise share one field name and one value; choose Keep the first form when one file must stay fillable. The title and author of the first document carry over, and the producer is always set to PulsarKit.

Where your files go

Nowhere. The merge runs inside this page using your own browser and processor, so the PDFs are never uploaded, never queued on a server and never stored. There is no account and no cleanup timer to trust. Close the tab and the files are gone from memory with it.

Frequently asked questions

How many PDF files can I merge at once?

Up to fifty files, totalling 500 MB. That covers almost every bundle of contracts, invoices or scans. If you need more, merge in two rounds: the output of the first round is a normal PDF you can feed straight back in.

Does merging reduce the quality of my PDFs?

No. Pages are copied as complete objects, so text stays selectable, fonts stay embedded and images keep their original resolution. The merged file has the same visual quality as the sources because none of the content is re-encoded.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Everything happens in your browser, on your device. The files are read into memory, joined and written back out locally, which is why the tool keeps working even after you lose your connection.

Can I merge password-protected PDFs?

Not directly. A password-protected file cannot have its pages copied, so it is reported by name and the tool offers to open it in Unlock PDF first. Remove the password there, then bring the file back here.

What happens to form fields and signatures?

Form fields are flattened into the page by default, so the filled values stay visible but are no longer editable. Digital signatures cover the file they were made in, so they cannot survive a merge; the visible signature appearance is kept.

Can I change the order of pages inside one file?

Not here. This tool orders whole files. To reorder, rotate or drop individual pages, use Organize PDF, or split the file first and merge the pieces back in the order you want.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. The cards can be dragged with a finger and the merge runs in the mobile browser. Very large bundles are limited by the memory of the phone rather than by the tool, so split huge jobs into two rounds.
