How to Convert to PDF

  1. 1

    Upload your OpenDocument file

ODT, ODS or ODP, up to 300 MB. The export path for a document, a spreadsheet or a presentation is chosen automatically from the file itself.

  2. 2

Adjust settings for the file's type

Page size and quality for documents, a sheet range for spreadsheets, slides per page for presentations. Only the settings relevant to what you uploaded are shown.

  3. 3

    Download the PDF

The result renders exactly as LibreOffice itself would print the file, since that is the engine doing the export.

One tool, three OpenDocument formats

ODT, ODS and ODP are the OpenDocument formats for text, spreadsheets and presentations. They share the same underlying container, and LibreOffice reads all three natively. This tool detects which one you uploaded from the file itself, not just its extension, and applies the matching export filter, so there is no need to pick the right converter yourself.

Why the settings change depending on your file

A page size and a font-embedding choice make sense for a text document. A sheet range only means something for a spreadsheet. Slides per page is a presentation setting. Rather than show every option for every format, the page shows only the settings that apply to the file you uploaded.

Font handling, the same as in the Word, Excel and PowerPoint tools

Any font used in the document that is not embedded and is not available on the server is substituted with a metrically compatible equivalent, so spacing and line breaks stay correct even when the exact typeface cannot be reproduced. Every document-to-PDF tool in this project handles fonts the same way.

Processed on our server, deleted automatically

OpenDocument files are rendered on PulsarKit's server using LibreOffice itself, the software that defines the format. The uploaded file is deleted as soon as the job finishes. The result stays downloadable for one hour and is wiped from the server within about two hours, whether or not you download it.

Frequently asked questions

How does the tool know if my file is a document, spreadsheet or presentation?

It reads the file's own internal structure, not just its extension, and picks the matching LibreOffice export filter: Writer, Calc or Impress.

Can I convert just one sheet of an ODS spreadsheet?

Yes. Enter a sheet range to convert only those sheets rather than the whole workbook.

How many slides fit on one printed page from an ODP file?

Choose 1, 2, 4, 6 or 9 slides per page. Use 1 for full-size slides and a higher count for a compact handout.

What happens to fonts I don't have installed?

With font embedding on (the default for documents), fonts are embedded directly in the PDF or substituted with a metrically compatible equivalent, so the result looks correct on any device.

Can I convert a password-protected file?

No. Remove the password first in LibreOffice or the original application. A protected file is detected and reported rather than failing silently.

Can I get a PDF/A archival file instead of a regular PDF?

For text documents, yes. Turn on the PDF/A option to produce an archive-ready file directly from this conversion.
