How to Insert blank pages

  1. 1

    Add your PDF

Drop in the document you want to extend. It is opened by your browser and never sent to a server.

  2. 2

Choose where the blank pages go

Pick the start, the end, a specific page number, or after every page. Set how many sheets to add, what size they should be, and a background colour if white is not what you want.

  3. 3

    Download the updated PDF

Save the new document. Your original file is left as it was.

Blank pages that match the document

By default a new page copies the dimensions of the page next to it, so a mixed document keeps printing correctly instead of shuffling paper trays halfway through. If the neighbouring page carries a quarter-turn rotation, the new sheet is created with its sides swapped so both come out the same shape on paper. When you need a fixed format instead, choose A4, Letter, Legal, A3 or A5 and set portrait or landscape yourself.

Separators and double-sided printing

Adding a sheet after every page turns a one-sided document into a duplex-ready one: each original page gets a clean back, so nothing prints through onto the wrong side. A single insert works as a divider before an appendix or a signature block. Positions are worked out against the original numbering, so inserting after every page never runs away with itself, and the limit of 500 new pages keeps a stray setting from producing a thousand-page file.

Your document stays with you

The PDF is opened, rebuilt and saved by your own browser. Nothing is uploaded, no copy sits on a server waiting to be deleted, and the file on your disk is untouched until you save the result yourself. Close the tab and nothing at all remains, which is why this is safe for signed agreements and scanned paperwork you would rather keep to yourself.

Frequently asked questions

How do I insert a page in the middle of a PDF?

Choose the after option and type the page number you want the blank to follow. Entering 5 puts the new sheet between pages five and six, and the rest of the document shifts down by one.

What size will the new page be?

By default the same as the page it sits next to, including the effect of any rotation stored in that page. You can override this with A4, Letter, Legal, A3 or A5 and pick portrait or landscape.

How do I add a clean back for double-sided printing?

Use the after every page option with a count of one. Every original page then gets an empty sheet behind it, which is what a duplex printer needs to keep each original on its own front side.

Can I insert a coloured page instead of a white one?

Yes. Set any hex colour and the new page is filled edge to edge with it. Leaving the colour white keeps the page empty, which costs roughly 300 bytes rather than a full-page graphic.

How many pages can I add at once?

Up to 50 sheets per insertion point and 500 new pages in total. That is enough to give every page of a 500-page document its own blank back in a single run.

Does my original file change?

No. The tool builds a new document from copies of your pages and hands it back as a separate download. The file you dropped in stays byte for byte as it was on your disk.

How do I remove a blank page again?

Open the result in the organize tool and delete the page, or use the remove pages tool with the page number. Both keep the rest of the document as it is.

Will the inserted page have a page number on it?

No, it is completely empty. If your document has printed numbers they will now be one short, so run the page numbers tool afterwards to renumber the whole document in one go.
