A Sejda Alternative: What Matches and Where Your File Goes
On October 22, 2026, we matched the 44 tools in Sejda's All Tools menu against PulsarKit. 29 had a counterpart, 5 matched only in part and 10 had none, from splitting by bookmarks to renaming files by their text.

Sejda Web and Sejda Desktop
Sejda is a set of PDF tools from Sejda BV, a company in Amsterdam. On October 22, 2026, its pricing page described two products. “Sejda Web are the online browser-based tools, where you upload your documents and process them on our servers.” Sejda Desktop “processes documents on your local computer, without uploading them to our servers.”
The desktop app runs on Mac, Windows and Linux. Sejda's home page says it has the “Same features as the online service”. Both are free within limits, covered below.
PulsarKit is a website with more than 200 free tools for files. There is nothing to install, and there is no sign-up, subscription or payment form. The site is paid for by advertising.
The differences are in which jobs each covers, where the file goes and what is free.
29 of 44 Sejda tools, checked on October 22, 2026
That day, the All Tools menu on Sejda's home page listed 44 tools in ten groups; the page itself says 30+. For each tool we looked for a PulsarKit tool that gives the same result, not identical features. Both sites change, so this is a count on one date.
At that check, 29 of the 44 had a counterpart. Merge, Organize, Extract Pages, Split by pages, Split by size, Delete Pages, Crop, Rotate and N-up match one to one. So do Compress, Protect, Unlock, Watermark, Flatten, Header & Footer, Page Numbers, Extract Images, Repair and OCR. Their Merge also takes images, while ours joins PDF files only.
All eight conversions match: PDF to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Text and JPG, and HTML, JPG and Word to PDF. Their PDF to JPG also makes PNG and TIFF, which are separate tools here. Fill & Sign matches our Sign PDF and PDF Forms together, and Create Forms matches the create mode of PDF Forms.
Five more match only in part and are not counted. Their Edit also rewrites the existing text of a PDF. Our Edit PDF cannot: it adds text, images, shapes and a white-out box on top of the page. Bates Numbering counts across several files, while our Page Numbers starts again in each file.
Grayscale turns text and images grey, and our Compress PDF turns only the images grey. Deskew exists here only as an option of OCR PDF. Workflows runs a chain of tools in one go, while our saved chains repeat a run one step at a time.
What Sejda has and PulsarKit does not
The other 10 had no counterpart. Splitting is one gap. Sejda splits a PDF by its bookmarks or by text that changes from page to page. Split in half cuts each page down the middle, such as an A3 scan into two A4 pages. Our Split PDF cuts by page ranges, every few pages or into single pages.
Alternate & Mix weaves pages from two or more files, with an option for backs scanned in reverse. Our Reverse pages tool has an Interleave mode that works on one file: all fronts first, then the backs in reverse order. Two separate scans have to be joined with Merge PDF first.
The rest are tools we do not have at all: Create Bookmarks, Edit Metadata, Flip, Resize for page size and margins, and Remove annotations. Rename names each file after text on its pages.
The product differs too. Sejda Desktop works offline on your own computer, Sejda offers an HTML to PDF API, and its site comes in 29 languages. PulsarKit has no desktop program, no version for your own server and no API, and its site has 10 languages.
Where your file goes
On Sejda Web, the page runs in your browser but the work does not. Its home page says Sejda Web “Works in the browser. Our servers process the files for you.” That day, 43 of the 44 tool pages added: “Files stay private. Automatically deleted after 2 hours.”
Its privacy policy, effective October 1, 2026, says files are kept only to give you time to process and download them. “No backups are made of these files.” For cloud hosting it lists DigitalOcean and Google Cloud in the United States and Europe, and Cloudflare worldwide. Sejda Desktop keeps files on your computer.
On PulsarKit, 22 of the 29 counterparts ran in the browser that day, so the file stayed on your device. That includes Compress PDF, Merge PDF, Split PDF, Protect PDF, Watermark PDF and the conversions between PDF and images.
The other 7 ran on our server: PDF to Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Word to PDF, HTML to PDF, OCR PDF and Repair PDF. Each of those pages says the file is deleted after processing and the result is wiped within about two hours. To see whether any page sends your file away, ours and Sejda's included, use three checks in your browser.
Limits and prices, as each site states them
Sejda's free plan is “Forever free to use” and needs no sign-up, with “Page and hourly limits”. The numbers are on each tool page. That day, 31 of the 44 said: “Free service for documents up to 200 pages or 50 MB and 3 tasks per hour.”
Some tools allowed fewer pages. OCR, PDF to Excel and Split by text stopped at 10, and PDF to JPG at 20. Merge, Organize and PDF to Word stopped at 50. Compress and Deskew took larger files, up to 100 MB, and Fill & Sign said “Free service for all documents”.
Paid plans remove the page and hourly limits and take files “up to 500MB per file”. Prices shown to us were $5 for seven days of Web, $7.50 a month for Web, or $63 a year for both. The free desktop app allows 3 tasks a day.
PulsarKit takes no payment from you. Its browser tools have no cap on the number of jobs, and server tools allow up to 30 an hour. Each tool page states its largest file: that day most of our PDF tools took files up to 300 MB.
What PulsarKit adds, and which one fits
The gap also runs the other way. At that check, Sejda's menu had no tool for PDF to ePub, PDF to PDF/A, PDF to Markdown, Compare PDF or Redact PDF. Into PDF it converted web pages, images and Word files. We also convert Excel, PowerPoint, OpenDocument, RTF, EPUB, Pages, text and HEIC files.
PulsarKit also covers images, video, audio and text, and a list of next tools under each result passes the file on.
Sejda Desktop fits if every step must stay on your computer, OCR and Word files included. It also rewrites existing text and splits by bookmarks, which PulsarKit does not. For a quick job on a phone or a borrowed computer, PulsarKit needs no install or account. Most of its PDF tools keep the file in your browser.
